Morse code is only used in amateur radio; we only need to focus on the needs of this service.
Amateur radio operators must be able to respond immediately from memory on the frequency.
The HTC shows ways to learn Morse code and operating technology. Morse code courses can usually only be organized in the catchment areas of larger cities. Alternatively, the HTC offers guided self-study through our Morse code mentors for individuals or groups. Learning Morse code should be free!
Morsegotti Principle
Most telegraphy enthusiasts are connected via the HTC. For Morse learners, the HTC has introduced the Morse godparent principle.
If you want to learn or improve your Morse code skills, please read the section "Learning and Practicing Morse Code". For further questions, please feel free to contact us . The goal is to find a suitable learning profile: at the character, word, or sentence level, or even memory training. Prerequisite:
You can only learn Morse code with a willingness to learn and a daily learning plan. In practice, it's similar to learning a foreign language or a musical instrument. You should allow for half an hour a day if you want to reach your goal as soon as possible.
Goals:
The goal is to be able to use telegraphy in practical amateur radio. To enjoy CW, you should master Morse code so that you can receive and transmit texts fluently with a certain degree of relaxation.
But you can also set your own goals. "I just want to be able to handle SOTA QSOs in CW first." "I want to be able to participate in the Marconi Contest in CW on 2m." "Be able to conduct a standard QSO." Such goals are easier to achieve, we and our HB9HQX Morse 8 program or the `Learn CW 8` app will help you!
Morse code learning programs:
At HTC, the " HB9HQX Morse 8 " morse training program is preferred. This allows us to discuss with each other more easily and help each other; we have specialists in-house! The program offers many different learning methods (e.g., random characters, random texts, Koch trainer, memory exercises, texts with speed macros, keyboard morse, software keyer, transmitter keying, and excellent sound reproduction via PC speakers). The easy-to-use HB9HQX Morse 8 version was developed from the comprehensive and mature HB9HQX Morse 7 version. There is no need to waste time evaluating another program; you can start learning morse telegraphy right away. All learning options known to us are covered by the same program to achieve the desired goal. The same learning methods and procedures can also be applied on the go with the app ' CW lernen 8 '.
Attention: The HB9HQX Morse is not a substitute for programs such as RufzXP (especially for the rapid recording of call signs) and Morserunner (especially for the simulation of contest QSOs).

HTC Morse Code Test: A Universal Exercise for Advanced Learners
This can be a possible goal for advanced amateurs and those returning to the hobby. An exercise lasts 4 minutes. In each exercise, a QSO setup, call sign groups, German and English plain text, and two number groups are run. The remaining time is supplemented with 3-letter groups.
If you do two such exercises per day, you will have practiced all the elements, and success will not be long in coming!
With HQX Morse training, you can test yourself in every exercise, including tapping Morse code with a hand key, the built-in software keyer, or an external keyer connected to the PC. It was never the idea to introduce a Morse test in the traditional sense in the HTC. The Morse test should be achieved gradually as a possible goal to maintain enjoyment of telegraphy through fluent, usable CW. An advanced level (speed 80) would have to be achievable at least. The advanced HTC Morse listening test is done comfortably at home, in a familiar environment, independently without stress, like an exercise! Reaching a speed of 100 BpM corresponds to the requirements of the former ship radio operator's examination!
This exercise can also be used for a 4-minute memory training. Any groups of 3 can still be easily memorized. They correspond to the suffix in call signs or, in the case of numbers, contest serial numbers. Learning and memorizing groups of five is no longer necessary today; they are no longer needed anywhere!
To obtain the basic level diploma, a keying test must be taken. This usually requires the presence of a Morse mentor (this does not happen automatically). However, alternatives via radio or the HRS CW Hotline box are conceivable. The diploma regulations describe ways in which a keying test can be taken. If you are interested, please get in touch !
