Recommended hardware for the typing exercises (interface)
All HTC interfaces described here allow you to do keying exercises with the software HB9HQX Morse V7 and HB9HQX Morse 8 .
For all typing exercises:
- Connect the keyboard interface a moment before starting the program ! This is mandatory for version Morse 8. If the program does not recognize the hardware interface when starting, no keyboard exercises are possible!
- to monitor an external audio signal (no latency due to internal sound cards). You can either monitor a sine wave from an external tone generator or the monitor audio of the transmitter. To do this, the transmitter power is switched off. (Depending on the transmitter: VOX off, select test mode (K3) or turn power to zero).
Over time, various interfaces for transmitter keying have been created. The documentation for this should be preserved.

HTC Interface Type A:
Features
- Interface A is used with the HB9HQX Morse V7 or HB9HQX Morse 8 software.
- This version keys an external tone generator . The transmitter's monitoring tone can be keyed in the same way. The transmitter's energy is switched off. (Depending on the transmitter: VOX off, select test mode (K3) or turn power to zero.)
- This interface also requires a USB-RS232 converter cable.
- The interface can also be used for keying many other logging programs, such as N1MM, etc.
- Without any wiring changes, the interface can communicate digitally over the internet via CWCom.
- Due to the chosen "sandwich construction" of the kit, no holes need to be drilled.
Availability:
Interface A: Printed circuit board with DB9 print socket, other materials on request, all at cost price. Price depending on material 10-20Fr.
The USB/RS232 converter cable must be purchased separately.
A few BX-07 tone generators, finished devices/functional prints are still available. For sale (Fr. 30.-)

Für einen Kurs wurden weitere Interface vom Type A, mit externen Monitorton, benötigt. Gleichzeitig sollte das relativ teuere USB/RS232 Wandlerkabel mit einer zusätzlicher DB9 Printbuchse wegfallen. Die Konvertierung von USB nach TTL-Pegeln, übernimmt ein fertiges Modul.
Daraus ergab sich ein leicht anderes Schema und Layout. Es wurde ein neuer Print hergestellt. Die Abmessungen des Prints mussten beibehalten werden, da noch einige beschrifteten Aluminium-Deckplatten vorhanden waren.

Weitere Merkmale
- Das Interface A wird zusammen mit der Software HB9HQX Morse V7 oder HB9HQX Morse V8 verwendet.
- Diese Version tastet einen externen Tongenerator. Gleichwertig kann kann der Sender-Mithörton getastet werden. Dabei wird dessen Senderenergie ausgeschaltet. (je nach Sender: VOX aus, Test-Modus wählen (K3) oder Leistung auf Null drehen.)
- Dieses Interface benötigt ein USB A zu USB mini B Kabel
- Das Interface kann auch für die Tastung von vielen anderen Logprogrammen verwendet werden, N1MM etc.
- Ohne Verdrahtungsänderung kann das Interface über das Internet über CWCom kommunizieren (digital).
- Durch den gewählten "Sandwichaufbau" des Bausatzes, sind keine Löcher zu bohren.
Beim verwendeten Wandlermodul war die Phasenlage des RTS-Signals, aktiv high, anders als bei früheren Modulen eines anderen Herstellers. Mit T2, R3, R4 wurde diese Phasenlage gedreht. Über K4 kann man die Phasenlage wählen.
Dieses Modul wurde für die Computer unterstützte Schulung, für Tastübungen, ausgelegt. Die Kondensatoren C1,C2,C4,C5 sind für die hochfrequente Abblockung gedacht und für Schulungs-Anwendung nicht bestückt worden.
Falls nötig, bei Verwendung eines Senders, können C2 und C4 zur HF-Abblockung bestückt werden.

HTC Interface Type B
Features
- Interface B is used with the HB9HQX Morse V7 or HB9HQX Morse V8 software.
- It can also be used for keying several logging programs, N1MM etc.
- Sine wave tone generator with a nice envelope curve built in.
- The latest version has various inputs and outputs to be used for different applications.
- One or more identical interfaces can be connected to each other via the relay contact output. Two or more partners can thus communicate with each other in alternating traffic. Relay contact closed results in sound on both sides.
- Pitch and volume can be adjusted individually.
- The interface only needs a USB/USB cable (not included, plugs depend on the supplied/installed USB/UART converter).
- The interface is available as a kit. In the kit, all SMD components are assembled on one side of the printed circuit board. Only the larger components such as connectors, electrolytic capacitors, and transistors need to be soldered on the top side (labeled).
- Interface B can also communicate via the Internet , via CWCom digital, or via sine tone output via iCW. (Amplitude adjustable)

Interface B kit: sold out
All SMD components have already been assembled. Only connectors, transitors, potentiometers, and electrolytic capacitors need to be assembled using through-hole technology. No USB cable.
If there is still a greater interest in Interface B , once 10 units are reached , another batch of prints equipped with all SMD components could be ordered. However, the remaining material, through-hole technology, and hardware would have to be sourced by yourself. The price of this option would be passed on at cost price. This would currently be around 12-20 CHF.

You can connect two interfaces (local practice). A connection via iCW with a sine tone over the internet is also possible, preferably via an external sound card. See also Applications over the Internet .
